the amanda ann family - exclusive to this website!
Plastic Paul
We talk to Plastic Paul: Don't miss this space!
Now, Paul, the Amanda Ann Family show has been a huge hit. We now have a following of six. Why do you think that is?
The Actors and performances, Love. The great unwashed love to see good acting.
Oh? Not storylines? Nor action? Like from Ken next door?
Oh yes, that's part of it. But mostly they tune in to see Yours Truly. I keep them on
the edge of their seats, love
And how do you feel about that recent review that claimed your performace matched your surname?
Jealousy, love, sheer jealousy. Why, I was drinking with Jezza Irons and Tony (Sher) the other day, and they had the same problem with these damming reviews. But we're pros, love. We don't sod off to Belgium like that old ham, Stephen Fry.
And where do you intend to go from here?
Got a couple of tellys, love. Plus quite a lucrative offer from the States. And I assume (gives me a meaningful look) that there is a series Three of this caper!
Well, we were looking at giving Paul an untimely end. A clash with Ken from next door's brother perhaps? Seeking revenge.
You wouldn't bloody dare, love! Show would collapse without me. Get me the phone, someone! I'll ring my bloody agent!
(Interview ends unpleasantly)

Next is an interview with the lovely and childrearing
Mary
Now Mary, who are your greatest influences when portraying the young maid's performance?
Oh my God! I don't know! Bergman, Monroe, Davis - they tell me I'm like, all three !
Did you do much research when you were told you were playing a badly exploited maid of all work?
Oh yeah, I kinda googled like, this stuff. And they said this kind of heavy stuff totally went on in real life! In the Victorian period!
A bit different from the surfing movies you're usually seen in?
Oh yeah! But I can still totally relate to Mary! We're both victims in a way.
Oh?
Yeah, like the other day, I went to this place called Cornwall, and I didn't get to surf all day! And I couldn't oil my surfboard because I had, like, a 3 pm film call!
Now, I believe that you're good friends with Quinten Tarrantino, and he's a regular visitor to your beach house in Malibu. Is it true he wants to direct the third series of Amanda Ann?
Yeah. Me and Quint, we sit around and shoot the shit. He's a real gentleman. I've only had to call the Cops once. I dunno about that, but we're interested in working together.
May I say at this point, that Speilberg's also interested
Like, who?
(Interview suspended due to Mary catching a flight back to LA)
(Good riddance!)

The amazing and elegant marjorie
And now we have the wonderful Marjorie, the lady of the Amanda Ann household:
A Lady? Gosh, how wonderful!
And how do you feel about the role of Marjorie?
(Pours herself a large gin)
Well, love! I find it a great challenge. Why, I remember my days at the Whitehall theatre, being chased by Brian Rix, shoved in an ottoman, that sort of thing...
So, it must be nice to be in one place. And not scantily clothed then?
(Swigs her drink) Yes and no, Love, yes and no. You wouldn't believe the proposals I used to get (she giggles), rich Arabs, visiting Lords, that sort of thing...
Yes, a different era....
Oh, you're so right, my dear. Why, I remember sitting on Sid James' lap, and who should walk in but Douglas Fairbanks Jnr... well, the next morning, he said to me...
Gosh, Marjorie, what a colourful career you have had
(refills her glass) I know, Love, I know (bursts into tears) and where has it got me? Eh? Where has it got me? (slurps her glass) A tin-pot role on a computer, surrounded by amateurs!!!
Probably best leave it there, Marjorie. A lie-down, eh?
(Bless her)

And now last, but by no means least, we have the gorgeous lavinia
Now, Lavinia, this is your first role straight from drama school. Was this hard to cope with?
God no! I seized the chance with both hands, and really got into Lavinia's soul.
You didn't find the more experienced actors intimidating?
Well, for a start, I can out-act any beach-surfing Yank, an old soak and that old ham!
I take it you are referring to your co-stars?
If that's what you want to call them. I can think of other phrases
So how did you tackle the complex role of Lavinia?
Workshopped it of course. Then became the girl herself. I could relate to her, of course. Being young and everything.
The press have been saying that you are really 29, and "have been around a bit"
What do you say to this?
I told you! You bring that up, and I'm walking!
(She storms out in a huff)
Next week: Interviews with Alistair and Mrs Slagg!
